OM Youth originally established its self in the year 2000. Four members of the youth community of Luton set about to make a difference that would allow the community to come together and celebrate festivals, socialise, and meet others whom they may not have met before. They wanted to UNITE those in our community through; social, sporting, educational and cultural events.
For eight years we have grown in strength year in, year out, with the support of our local community! Thank you to everyone who has been involved with us by supporting OM Youth in all capacities, we hope to build on this now, and in the future.
We organise various events throughout the year for both young and old, regular attendees, and newcomers too! In addition to this we are involved in projects with several other community based organisations in Luton and the surrounding areas. OM Youth also hosts a radio show on Luton’s Diverse FM (102.8FM Saturdays 10am – 12pm: MISS IT, MISS OUT!) The resident DJ’s play a range of music from Bollywood to Bhangra, to Hip-Hop, they update everyone with essential news and weather whilst using light humour to entertain Luton with specialist hot topical debates.
We strive to organise something for everyone and have been known for our infamous day excursions to theme parks, cultural expeditions and sites such as the Skandavale Mandir in Wales, and more recently, our annual Summer Camping weekends. Our infamous winning-streak in the Luton international Carnival has allowed us to encourage more children to partake in creative sessions in constructing, wearing and showing off their fabulous costumes – all themed for each year’s Carnival.
